Case Description
A criminal case was opened against actress and TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva for publicly "justifying terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was Lazareva's interview on August 14, 2023, in which she stated that she was happy about drone attacks on Moscow in the program 'And Graham Rang Out'. Literally every day we are now facing drone attacks on Russian cities. And you know, it's terrible, but I'm happy, the TV presenter said at the time. After the war in Ukraine began, the actress left Russia for Spain. In June 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia put Lazarev on the wanted list. 10 July 2024, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow granted the prosecution's motion and chose Lazareva's preventive measure in the form of detention. The term is calculated from the moment of extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation or from the moment of detention on the territory of the Russian Federation. December 24, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Tatyana Lazareva guilty and sentenced her in absentia to 6.5 years of freedom deprivation in a general regime colony. April 15, 2025, the Appellate Military Court upheld the sentence.
