Case Description
In late June 2024, a criminal case was initiated in Moscow for 'rehabilitating Nazism' against historian and Honored Teacher of Russia Tamara Eidelman, based on materials from a prosecutorial check. According to law enforcement, in one of the videos on her YouTube channel "History Lessons with Tamara Eidelman, the historian expressed "clear disrespect for the Day of Military Glory of Russia and a memorable date in Russia related to the defense of the Fatherland." 3. It is likely that this refers to Edelmann's video "Important Conversations: The Day of the Stolen Victory" from May 5, 2024, in which she discusses how propaganda uses the history of World War II for its own purposes. In 2022, Edelman condemned the war and left Russia. In early January 2025, it became known that another criminal case was opened against Edelman for the rehabilitation of Nazism. Details of the charges are also unknown. At the end of May 2025, a third criminal case was opened against the historian under the article on "fakes" about the Russian army. It is reported that the case is related to a publication in the Telegram channel of Edelman.
