Case Description

In November 2023, a search was conducted at the home of local activist Svetlana Marina in Kirov. It lasted approximately three hours, after which Marina and her husband were taken to the Investigative Committee and questioned. During the search, all the technology found in the apartment was seized. According to the woman, she was not allowed to sign the search protocol because she wanted to make comments in it. A criminal case was opened against Svetlana Marina for repeated "discrediting" of the army. According to law enforcement officers, the woman posted a 43-second video in the public domain, in which she called the deceased z-"war correspondent" Vladlen Tatarsky a "criminal, murderer, and robber" and was outraged that his photo was displayed at the Eternal Flame." "Earlier, in May 2023, the activist was charged under an administrative offense case under the article on "discrediting the army" due to a repost from the Telegram channel "Slovo Liberala" of a photograph from the February 24, 2023 rally in memory of Boris Nemtsov in Kirov and an anti-war statement by the PARNAS party, of which he was co-chairman. On March 1, 2024, the Kirov Primorsky District Court found Svetlana Marina guilty and sentenced her to 1 year and 6 months of compulsory labor. Also, the court banned Marina from administering websites for 2 years. 24 April 2024, the Kirov Regional Court upheld the verdict. On November 22, 2024, Judge Shalagina L.A. of the Kirovo-Chepetsk District Court", replaced compulsory labor in a correctional center with 11 months and 16 days of imprisonment in a settlement colony."
