Case Description
In Angarsk, Irkutsk region, a criminal case was initiated against 39-year-old Stepan Makarov. He was accused of public calls for terrorist activity. The date of the initiation of the case is unknown. According to the investigation, in May 2024, in one of the groups in the Telegram messenger, Makarov posted a comment containing "calls for terrorist activity and violent actions against a state figure of Russia. There is no information about the measure of restraint. 12 February 2025, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Stepan Makarov guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 400 thousand. rubles. He was also prohibited from engaging in activities related to the administration of websites on the Internet for 3 years. On June 17, 2025, the Appellate Military Court changed the verdict. He sentenced Makarova to 5 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom.
