Case Description
In early August 2023, FSB officers detained 31-year-old Stanislav Gogolyuk, a resident of Pskov, in the Pskov region on suspicion of preparing to set fire to a relay cabinet at the railway station "Pskov-Tovarniy. The FSB claims that the Pskov resident was detained on the evening of August 2, when he tried to open a relay cabinet with a wrench." A criminal case was opened against the man for confidential cooperation with a representative of a foreign state to the detriment of the Russian Federation and attempted sabotage. According to the investigation, in June 2023, the defendant in the case established contact through Telegram with a volunteer of a Ukrainian public humanitarian project whose goal is to recruit Russian citizens to carry out sabotage and terrorist acts. He then provided the volunteer with information about the locations of military units in the city of Pskov, as well as about railway infrastructure objects used in the interests of the Russian Armed Forces. The court sent the man into custody. On August 8, 2024, the Pskov Regional Court found Stanislav Gogolyuk guilty and sentenced him to 9 years in a strict regime penal colony and a 1-year restriction of freedom. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
