Case Description
In May, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow placed Belarusian citizen Stanislav Gibadulin under house arrest in absentia. The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic issued a verdict in absentia in a criminal case against 34-year-old Moldovan citizen Stanislav Iosif Gibadulin. He was found guilty under part 3rd art. Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict). It was established in court that from March 2015 to July 2019, Gibadulin arrived in Ukraine, voluntarily joined the separate special purpose unit 'Azov' of the National Guard of Ukraine (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), and then enlisted in the 25th separate motorized infantry battalion 'Kyiv Rus' of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Gibadulin was provided with personal firearms, ammunition, uniforms, and special equipment. He took part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine in various points of combat contact. The amount of the mercenary's reward is equivalent to more than 3.2 million rubles. Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced Gibadulin in absentia to 7 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony.
