Case Description

On January 31, 2024, activists from the "Russian People's Druzhina" arrived at the "S'aint" bar on Rubinstein Street, 38 in St. Petersburg and accused the establishment, whose interior and menu plays on religious symbolism, of offending the feelings of believers. The activists got into an argument with the bartender and called the police, after which the establishment was temporarily closed. That same evening, RND activists went to the address of "S'aint" on Zhukovsky, 17, but the bar staff managed to close the doors from the inside. The next day, the bar administration wrote on its page on VKontakte: "Due to harassment and threats to our personal address, Rubinstein is not working today." "Orthodox Druzhinniks" did not like that pink glowing crosses and other decorative elements reminiscent of religious symbols hung on the walls of the bar, and alcoholic beverages on the menu were called "Blood of Jesus", Madonna's Sadness", Personal Jesus", Ave Maria" and so on. v. No later than 12 February 2024, a criminal case was opened against bar owner Sofya Noskova-Avramovich for insulting the feelings of believers.
