Case Description
In June 2022 (the exact date is unknown) in St. Petersburg, former IT specialist of a St. Petersburg defense enterprise Sergey Yushkov was detained. He was accused of publicly justifying terrorism, publicly calling for extremist activities and rehabilitating Nazism. According to the investigation, on his VKontakte page, Iushkov posted posts on Nazi themes and justifications for terrorist acts, as well as publications discrediting the Russian army. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was sent to a pre-trial detention center. While the investigation was ongoing, Yushkova was brought to administrative responsibility six times under the article on "discrediting" the RF army for posts on VKontakte. As a result, he was fined a total of 150 thousand. rubles. On December 6, 2023, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Sergey Yushkov guilty and sentenced him to seven years in a general regime colony. On February 26, 2024, the Appellate Military Court upheld the sentence.
