Case Description
In April 2023, in the occupied Donetsk, a 40-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Sergey Yuryev, was detained. He was accused of espionage and calls for terrorism. According to the Russian investigation, Yuryev from 2015 to 2019, being in the so-called The DNR, published information about the deployment and movements of military formations in social networks. On August 22, 2023, the Southern Military District Court found Sergey Yuryev guilty and sentenced him to five and a half years in a colony. On November 8, 2023, the Appellate Military Court left the verdict unchanged. On August 14, 2025, the Ukrainian was released as a result of another prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.
