Case Description
In Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Oblast, at the beginning of June 2023, a criminal case was opened for vandalism and participation in an extremist organization against local resident Sergey Streknyov. According to the investigation, on June 4, Streknyov, being a participant in the extremist banned organizations 'FBK' and 'Navalny's Headquarters,' painted on public buildings and structures, public transport stops, inscriptions in support of the aforementioned structures, as well as discrediting the authorities: 'No to war' and 'Freedom to political prisoners' and 'Putin is a murderer.'", Furthermore, according to law enforcement officials, Stremnev 'desecrated' a number of objects and structures, including a model of the ISU-152 self-propelled artillery mount, which is part of the concept of the memorial ensemble dedicated to those who died in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, on which he placed inscriptions expressing disrespect for the authorities and society. The court sent Streknov into custody for the duration of the investigation. On February 15, 2024, the Rybinsk City Court of the Yaroslavl Region found Sergey Streknyov guilty and sentenced him to three and a half years in a general regime colony. Also, the court prohibited Strecknov from attending mass events for two years and sentenced him to ten months of restriction of freedom. On May 7, 2024, the Yaroslavl Regional Court upheld the verdict.
