In November 2024, a criminal case was initiated against a 64-year-old local resident of the Stavropol Territory, Sergey Shestorov, for repeated 'discrediting' of the Russian army. According to the investigation, Shesterov, previously held administratively liable for a similar offense, publicly in the presence of citizens spoke negatively about the participation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the 'special military operation' in Ukraine, as well as about Russia's political course in general, giving 'a negative assessment of the activities of the president and the government of the Russian Federation.'", Earlier, on March 6, 2023, Sheterov was fined under the article on "discrediting" the Russian army for publicly shouting phrases "glory to Ukraine", No to war", Russia will lose the war. The investigation chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of a written undertaking not to leave. On November 18, 2024, the Izobilnensky District Court of the Stavropol Territory found Sergey Shestero guilty and sentenced him to 9 months of imprisonment conditionally with a probationary period of 9 months. The court also banned him from using the internet for 1 year. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
