In late October 2022, a criminal case was initiated against 32-year-old local resident Sergey Pestryakov in Stavropol for the rehabilitation of Nazism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a post from May 16, 2021, published on the social network VKontakte, beginning with the words 'Victory on May 9 is not...' and ending with the words '...they have no achievements, they are in the dumps of history like the whole fucking world.' Earlier, in July 2022, Pestryakov was arrested on charges of justifying terrorism and placed in a pre-trial detention center. September 6, 2023, the Stavropol Regional Court found Sergey Pestryakov guilty and sentenced him to two years in prison. By partially combining the sentences imposed under this verdict and the verdict of the Southern District Military Court dated October 31, 2022, the court imposed a final sentence on Pestryakov in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term of three years, to be served in a general regime correctional colony. Also, the court deprived Pestryakov of the right to administer websites on the Internet for three years. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
