Case Description

In the city of Tolyatti, Samara Oblast, no later than December 2021 (the exact date is unknown), a criminal case was initiated for participation in the activities of an extremist organization against three local residents — 50-year-old Aleksandr Larion, 43-year-old Olga Anufrieva, and 56-year-old Sergey Patsanovsky. According to the investigation, the residents of Samara participated in the activities of the interregional extremist organization 'Citizens of the USSR,' whose activities were recognized as extremist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation by the decision of the Samara Regional Court, which entered into force on July 20, 2022." The security forces appointed Sergei Patsanovsky as the head of the cell. Together with active participant Olga Anufrieva, he conducted "agitation work" among the staff of the Military Commissariats of Tolyatti and distributed leaflets to them calling for joining the ranks of the "USSR." "Anufrieva and Larina were also charged with incitement, recruitment, or other involvement of a person in the activities of an extremist organization, and Larina was also accused of public calls for extremist activity. All three residents of Samara were placed in custody for the duration of the investigation. On April 28, 2023, the Central District Court of Tolyatti, Samara Region, found the defendants guilty and sentenced Sergey Patsanovskiy to 3 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony, Olga Anufrieva to 4 years and 6 months of imprisonment to be served in a general regime colony, and Alexander Larion to 5 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime colony. February 20, 2024, the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Samara Regional Court left the verdict unchanged.
