Case Description
In September 2025, local resident Sergey Novikov, 41, was detained in Shchelkovo, Moscow Oblast. He was accused of committing a terrorist act that caused significant damage or other serious consequences. According to the prosecution's version, the man set fire to the administration building in Shchelkovo. Details are unknown. It is possible that this refers to an arson committed by unknown persons on August 13, 2025. Then the open burning was localized on an area of approximately 140 sq. meters. There were no casualties, six people left the burning building on their own. 47 people and 16 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. Shchyolkovsky City Court of the Moscow Region placed the man in a pre-trial detention center.
