Case Description

In the village of Novoye Ryabeevo in the Kalininsky District of the Tver Region, at the beginning of May 2023, security forces came to search the home of 44-year-old local activist and father of many children, Sergei Neveryov. Security forces in masks broke down the door to the apartment and seized all the equipment. In the fall of 2022 (the exact date is unknown), a criminal case was opened against Neverov for repeated "discrediting" of the Russian army. The reason for the criminal prosecution was two Facebook posts - a repost of a video about mobilization with the headline "What and for whom are you going to war and die for?" and a post about the surrender of Kherson. As a preventive measure, Neverov was given a ban on certain actions - he was prohibited from attending mass events and using the Internet. Earlier, in July 2022, Neverov was fined in a case of an administrative offense under the article on discrediting the army due to a post on Facebook. On October 25, 2024, the Kalininsky District Court of the Tver Region terminated the case against Sergey Neverov due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for bringing criminal charges.
