Case Description
On October 6, 2022, in Kislovodsk, unknown persons set fire to the letter "V" on the sign "KislOVodsk. The damage was estimated at 127 thousand. rubles. According to this fact, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the intentional destruction of property. On January 22, 2023, police officers detained 23-year-old loader Vyacheslav Brunchalina on suspicion of arson, and the next day, on the 23rd, they detained his acquaintance, the cashier-seller at the "Krasnoe-Belo" store Sergey Mitin. According to the security forces' version, Brunchalin and Mitin at 17:20 with a difference of one day, Brunchalin, being near house No. 74 on the street. Chelyuskintsev, while Mitin, being near house No. 8a on the lane. Porkhov was "in a rude manner, disobeyed the lawful demands of a police officer, refused to identify themselves and present documents confirming their identity, and tried to hide. Twenty-four hours later, on January 24, Judge Andrei Korotych of the Kislovodsk City Court of the Stavropol Territory found both guilty of disobeying the lawful demands of police officers and sent Brunchalin and Mitin under administrative arrest for 10 days. On January 30, another criminal case was initiated against Vyacheslav Brunchalin - for participating in the activities of an extremist organization. Police officers allegedly found in his phone correspondence in Telegram with a channel called "Right Sector. Vyacheslav, according to the police version, sent a video with an oath to the "Right Sector, and allegedly expressed a desire to act against the Russian Federation. On February 2, at the request of the investigation, the Kislovodsk City Court chose Brunchalina's measure of restraint in the form of detention. No information was provided about the choice of a preventive measure for Sergei Mitin. On March 17, the case of participation in the 'Right Sector' and the arson of the letter V were combined into one production. In December, the case was sent to court. On May 15, 2024, the Kislovodsk City Court of the Stavropol Territory found the defendants guilty and sentenced Sergey Mitin to one and a half years of imprisonment with a probationary period of one and a half years, and Vyacheslav Brunchalin to 5 years of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony with a restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year. July 17, 2024, the Stavropol Krai Court upheld the sentence.
