Case Description
In Magadan, on the night of September 21, 2023, unknown individuals smashed a window in a building on Karl Marx Street, where a printing warehouse was located, and threw a Molotov cocktail inside. October 5, the Investigative Department of the FSB of Russia for the Magadan Region opened a criminal case on the fact of arson for committing a terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. 6 October in the evening, 20-year-old unemployed Ekaterina Gazieva and her 34-year-old acquaintance Sergey Malyuchenko were detained on charges of arson. On October 7, the Magadan City Court chose detention as a measure of restraint for both of them. According to the security forces, the young men tried to set fire to the local military enlistment office, but confused the building. Allegedly, the girl wanted to buy a hidden stash and corresponded with a certain Ukrainian curator who offered her 50,000 rubles for setting fire to the military enlistment office. The curator" transferred 3.5 thousand to buy rags, bottles, and incendiary mixture, after which they came to the printing building, the guy broke the window, and then each one in turn threw a bottle. They filmed everything on their phone and then sent a video report. 24 April 2024, the Pacific Fleet Military Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Ekaterina Gazieva to 12.5 years in a general regime colony and Sergey Malyuchenko to 13 years in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and came into force.
