Case Description
On October 28, 2024, in Mariupol, occupied Donetsk region, 56-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen with forced Russian citizenship Sergey Levkin was detained. He was accused of state treason and public calls for extremist activity. According to the version of the Russian security forces, from June to October 2024, the man transferred money through a banking application to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In September of the same year, Levkin posted a video online calling for murder on national grounds. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On July 2, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Sergey Levkin guilty and sentenced him to 14 years in a strict regime penal colony. The court also restricted his freedom for 1.5 years and imposed a fine of 30 thousand." rubles and deprived him of the right to post appeals and other materials on the Internet. On September 18, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction changed the sentence, details are unknown.
