Around 23:50 on August 16, 2023, in the village of Chernyshevsk, Zabaykalsky Krai, 25-year-old local resident Sergey Lovchikov arrived in his UAZ Hunter vehicle at the military commissariat on Zhuravlyova Street. On August 16, 2023, the Chernyshevsky District Court of the Zabaykalsky Krai sent the man to a pre-trial detention center. Later, the case was reclassified as a terrorist act. According to the security forces, Lovchikov acted out of hostility and anger towards the state and state authorities, as well as with the aim of destabilizing the activities of the military commissariat of the Chernyshevsky district. On February 26, 2024, the 2nd Eastern District Military Court found Sergey Lovchikov guilty and sentenced him to 11 years in prison, with the first 2 years to be served in prison, and the remaining part of the sentence in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
