Case Description
In Moscow, on Manezhnaya Square, on the afternoon of June 29, 2024, Sergei Liventsov, a 57-year-old resident of the Tula region, was detained. According to law enforcement officials, he painted the inscription "GUR" on the monument to Marshal Zhukov. During the interrogation, the man said that he became a victim of fraudsters - he was deceived into taking out loans for half a million rubles and to repay the money, he was forced to make an inscription. A criminal case was opened against the Tula resident for desecrating monuments and other memorial structures dedicated to persons who defended the Fatherland or its interests during the Great Patriotic War, as part of a group of persons by prior conspiracy. On July 1, 2024, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow chose Liventsova's measure of restraint in the form of detention.
