Case Description
In the Sovetsky district of the annexed Republic of Crimea, no later than September 2025, a criminal case was opened against 52-year-old local resident Sergey Laponogov. He was accused of public calls for extremist activity on the Internet. According to the investigation, Laponogov in 2023 and twice in 2024 posted comments on social networks calling for violent actions against people on the basis of nationality. There is no information about the measure of restraint. On December 18, 2025, the Sovetsky District Court found Sergey Laponogov guilty and sentenced him to 3 years in prison. He was also banned from engaging in activities related to posting messages and materials on the Internet and administering websites for 2.5 years.
