Case Description
On 25 January 2022, in occupied Luhansk, 65-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen with forced Russian citizenship Sergey Kuhtin was detained. He was accused of treason (under the Criminal Code of the LPR). The details of the charges are unknown. According to Kuhtin, he himself came to the 'Ministry of State Security of the Luhansk People's Republic' to 'help his homeland - Russia, or rather, the USSR', but there were 'turned-around SBU employees' who initiated a criminal case against him. During the investigation, the man was placed in a pre-trial detention center." On October 3, 2022, the Supreme Court of the Lugansk People's Republic found Sergey Kuhtin guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime colony. No information about the appeal is available.
