Case Description
1. In Miass, Chelyabinsk Oblast, in February 2023, FSB officers detained a 49-year-old local resident, Sergey Korneev. A criminal case was opened against him for public calls for activities aimed against state security. Law enforcement officials stated that the South Ural resident publicly called for sabotage of mobilization and military activities in one of the social networks, and suggested that Russian military personnel break military equipment and weapons. During the investigation, the man was placed under a written undertaking not to leave. On May 19, 2023, the Miass City Court found Korneev guilty and sentenced him to 2 years in a general regime colony. He was taken into custody in the courtroom. On July 19, 2023, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court upheld the verdict.
