Case Description
In the occupied Luhansk region, 39-year-old Sergei Kalinin, a native of Ivanovo, was detained no later than May 2024. He was accused of aiding terrorist activities. The details of the charges are unknown. According to Sergei himself, he was accused of trying to recruit someone to go with him to fight in Ukraine as part of the "Russian Volunteer Corps, but Kalinin himself claims that he does not personally know this alleged recruit. Under pressure, he gave incriminating testimony. The man was placed in custody for the duration of the investigation. On September 9, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Sergey Kalinin guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in prison, three of which he must serve in prison, the rest - in a strict regime colony.
