Case Description
In the Belgorod region, no later than November 2024, a 26-year-old local resident, a native of Ukraine, Sergey Derbak, was detained. He was accused of treason, preparing sabotage, and acquiring explosives. According to the investigation, Derbak, on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, illegally acquired an explosive device and planned to carry out an explosion of equipment and personnel of the Russian armed forces stationed in the Belgorod region. It is claimed that FSB operatives detained him red-handed when he had a package with an explosive substance on him. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On December 19, the Belgorod Regional Court found Sergey Derbak guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 500 thousand rubles. rub. He must serve the first 3 years in prison. On April 7, 2025, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction changed the verdict, details are unknown.
