Case Description
The Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case in absentia against Colonel Andriy Dziunia, commander of the 383rd Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and Colonel Serhiy Burdenyuk, senior navigator of the same brigade, no later than December 2022. They were accused of committing terrorist acts as part of an organized group, resulting in serious consequences and loss of life. According to the Russian investigation, from October to December 2022, Dzyaniy and Burdenyuk, acting under the guidance of the highest military and political leadership of Ukraine, carried out terrorist activities with the aim of intimidating the population and destabilizing the organs of state power of Russia. Four attacks were carried out from the territory of Ukraine using unmanned aerial vehicles with explosive devices on airfields in Kaluga, Ryazan and Saratov regions. On August 14, 2023, the 235th Garrison Military Court issued a detention order for Sergey Burdenyuk in absentia." November 29, 2024, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow placed Andrey Dzyaniya in custody in absentia. November 29, 2024, and August 2, 2023, respectively, they were placed on the international wanted list. On March 24, 2025, the 2nd Western District Military Court found Andrei Dzyania and Sergei Burdenyuk guilty in absentia. Each of them was sentenced to life imprisonment to be served in a strict regime penal colony. 18 June 2025 The Military Appellate Court left the sentence unchanged. Sergey Burdenyuk was also accused in absentia of incitement and recruitment for terrorist activities. On November 19, 2025, the Southern Military District Court found him guilty, the size of the punishment is unknown.
