Case Description
In Irkutsk on October 17, 2024, a search was conducted at the home of 38-year-old local resident Sergey Baksheev. Phone and computer were confiscated from him, and a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against him under the article on the propaganda of extremist symbols and calls for separatism. According to reports, Baksheev posted an image with Nazi symbols in the Telegram messenger, as well as in July 2021 in the chat 'Sarma.Trep' posted calls for actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation. In particular, the man wrote: 'It's time for the regions to become independent' 'It's time for Siberia and the Far East to leave the Russian Federation,' 'Siberia is a colony of the Russian Federation. If the Russian Revolution is not in honor among the Russians, then one can recall the historical experience of the American Revolution. No taxation without representation!"; "It's time to put up a fence along the entire length of the Ural Mountains and live peacefully, and let the Russian Federation fight with whoever it wants, they've gotten on our nerves"; "The future of the world is incompatible with many things, starting with the physical existence of some Putin, There is no separatism in one's native homeland. Separatism is usually based on dislike of neighbors. And we have regionalism in its purest form - Moscow robs and fools the colonies. Therefore, Russia needs to be reassembled as a real federation, with the capital moved to Kazan, with sufficient freedom for its subjects and peoples." The next day, on October 18, the judge of the Kirovsky District Court of Irkutsk, Elena Poveshchenko, sentenced Baksheev to punishment under the article on the demonstration of Nazi symbols in the form of administrative arrest for 12 days. On November 25, 2024, Maria Kalinina, a judge of the Irkutsk District Court of the Irkutsk Region, fined Baksheev 70 thousand. rubles under the article on calls for separatism. On October 29, 2024, after serving his sentence, the man was detained again. A criminal case was opened against him for public calls for extremism, the details of the charges are unknown. He was taken under a written undertaking not to leave and released. Later, Baksheev's charges were made more severe: an article on calls for terrorism was added for two episodes. At the end of the investigation, another episode was added to him under the article on public calls for activities aimed against state security. Details of the charges are also unknown. On June 30, 2025, the 2nd Eastern Military Court found Sergey Baksheev guilty and sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom. October 27, 2025, the Appellate Military Court increased the sentence to 6 years and 8 months in a general regime colony.
