Case Description
On August 23, 2019, in Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, S.Yu. Khachaturov, senior investigator of the inquiry department of the Central District Police Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate in Sochi, A criminal case was opened for document forgery against the head of the "Southern Human Rights Center" Semyon Simonov. On September 12, 2019, a search was conducted at Simonov's home. The door to his apartment was broken down, several laptops, system units, flash drives, disks, and documents related to the "Southern Human Rights Center" were seized. On October 18, 2019, Bandura K.I., leading specialist-expert (investigator) of the Central District Department of Bailiffs in Sochi. opened a second criminal case against Simonov - for malicious non-compliance with a court decision. For the duration of the investigation, a preventive measure was taken against the defendant in the form of a written undertaking not to leave. On July 6, 2021, the magistrate of the 101st judicial district of the Central District of Sochi found Semyon Simonov guilty and sentenced him to 250 hours of compulsory labor. On October 26, 2021, the Central District Court of Sochi (Judge S. A. The Martynyenko) left the verdict unchanged but released Semyon Simonov from the imposed punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution.
