Case Description
Crimean Tatar Rustem Asanov was sentenced in absentia for allegedly being involved in the activities of the Ukrainian illegal armed formation "Battalion named after. Nomana Chelebijikhan's. According to the version of the Russian security forces, Asanov, being a member of the illegal armed formation, in the period from an unspecified date in January 2016. through January 2022 "took an active part in its activities, carrying out various instructions from the leadership of the illegal armed formation, including conducting reconnaissance near the location of the Russian-Ukrainian border, and in addition, being provided with firearms, underwent training in shooting and firing, while to date has not declared voluntary cessation of his participation in the said illegal armed formation.
