Case Description
Russian authorities detained 35-year-old local resident and anarchist Ruslan Sidiki in Ryazan on November 30, 2023. The anarchist reported that after his detention, he was beaten and tortured with electric shocks, threatened with pliers to "remove skin from his genitals," and threatened with rape "with various objects." According to him, an unknown man approximately 50 years old in civilian clothes threatened him that if Sidiki did not voluntarily confess to committing an explosion, they would take him out of town and stage an escape attempt to have a legal justification to shoot him, and before that, they would torture him. According to security forces, in February 2023, Sidiki was recruited in Istanbul by a Ukrainian military intelligence officer, he "underwent sabotage training in Latvia," and returned to Ryazan in March. Security forces link the man to the explosion on the railway on the morning of November 11, which caused 19 freight train cars to derail, and the drone attack on the Dyagilevo military airfield on the night of July 20. A criminal case was opened under articles on terrorism and illegal possession of explosives. The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center. At the end of May 2024, new charges were brought against Sidiki - "receiving training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities" and trafficking in explosives "by an organized group." On May 23, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Ruslan Sidiki guilty and sentenced him to 29 years imprisonment, 9 of which he must serve in prison, and the remaining part in a strict regime penal colony. The court also granted the claims of the victims.
