Case Description
In the city of Livny, Oryol Oblast, no later than July 2024, FSB officers from Oryol and Penza Oblasts detained 48-year-old local resident Ruslan Gornostaev. He was accused of state treason and assisting terrorist activities. According to the security forces, throughout 2023-2024, Gornostaev, using cryptocurrency wallets, repeatedly transferred money to the accounts of Ukrainian organizations recognized as terrorist on the territory of Russia and financed the activities of Ukrainian military personnel." The total amount of transfers was about 100 thousand. rubles. The court placed the man in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. In September, the Rosfinmonitoring list of individuals associated with terrorist crimes added a 47-year-old resident of the village of Gornostaevka in the Livensky district of the Oryol region, possibly a relative of Sergey Gornostaev. Details of his accusation are unknown. On October 14, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Ruslan Gornostaev guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison in a strict regime colony, 1 year of restriction of freedom, and a fine of 500 thousand. rubles. February 6, 2025, the Appellate Military Court upheld the sentence.
