Case Description
In Volgograd, no later than April 2024, a criminal case was initiated against 45-year-old local resident Ruslan Bagirov. He was accused of public calls for terrorism. According to the FSB of the Volgograd region, on April 1, 2022, Bagirov, disagreeing with the policy of the Russian authorities and the course of the special military operation, at his home in Volgograd, using a mobile phone, posted two text comments on the YouTube video hosting service, containing statements about recognizing at least 20 air strikes on fuel and energy complex facilities and economic infrastructure located in the Belgorod region as correct, in need of support and imitation. On January 5, 2023, he also, guided by the same motives, posted two comments on the same video hosting service justifying the actions of the militarized nationalist association 'Azov'. Bagirov's exact comments were not disclosed. There is no information about the measure of restraint. On January 23, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Ruslan Bagirov guilty and sentenced him to 4 years in a general regime colony. On June 24, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
