Case Description
In the city of Angarsk, Irkutsk Oblast, no later than September 2024, a criminal case was initiated against 33-year-old local resident Ruslan Asubaev on charges of public calls for terrorism and public calls for activities aimed against state security. The reason for the criminal prosecution was messages written in 2023 in a certain "military-patriotic" chat. The details of the charges and the chosen measure of restraint are unknown. On November 15, 2024, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Ruslan Asubayev guilty and sentenced him to 4 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony." 2. On April 10, 2025, the Appellate Military Court toughened the sentence, adding 1 year and 10 months to the term.
