Case Description
On October 13, 2005, several groups of armed individuals carried out a series of attacks on government institutions in the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, Nalchik. During the ensuing fighting between security forces and militants, which ended only the next day, more than 140 people died, including 32 to 35 law enforcement officers and military personnel, 92 to 95 alleged participants in the attack, and 12 to 15 civilians; 200 to 250 people were wounded.
