Case Description

In the village of Olgino, Poltava district, Omsk region, no later than July 2023 (exact date unknown), a criminal case was opened for "calls for terrorism" against 54-year-old local resident Roman Tyurin. The reason for the criminal prosecution was posts on 'Odnoklassniki' supporting the infiltration of 'RDK' into the Belgorod region. According to the investigation, in publications on social networks, the man allegedly supported the actions of the "Belgorod insurgents. It later turned out that a criminal case was also opened against Tyurin for "fakes" about the Russian army. The reason for the criminal case was his posts on "Odnoklassniki", published from February 6 to 24, 2023. It is unknown exactly what Tyurin wrote. On February 24, he published 10 posts — all about the war in Ukraine. Among the publications are photographs of pickets that took place in Russia on the anniversary of the war in Ukraine. Turin's avatar features an image of a sunflower and a butterfly with the phrase "Everything will be Ukraine. There is no information about Tyurin being chosen a preventive measure, but most likely the man was placed in custody. Cases of calls for terrorism and war "fakes" were not combined. On February 20, 2024, Tyurina was included in the Rosfinmonitoring list as being involved in a crime of a terrorist nature. 31 May 2024, Judge Yulia Nosachova of the Poltava District Court of the Omsk Region found Roman Tyurin guilty and sentenced him to 6 years imprisonment with serving the sentence in a general regime colony, with additional punishment in the form of deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to public placement of appeals and other materials on the Internet for 4 years. August 15, 2024, the Omsk Regional Court upheld the verdict. In January 2024, a criminal case was opened in the Omsk region for repeated 'discrediting of the army' against 55-year-old local resident Roman Tyurin. The reason for the criminal prosecution was three anti-war posts on the social network "Odnoklassniki. At the time the criminal case was initiated, Roman Tyurin was in a pre-trial detention center on charges of spreading 'fakes' about the Russian army. In this case, the investigation took a pledge from the man not to leave as a preventive measure. Earlier, in May 2023, Tyurina was fined in a case of an administrative offense under the article on discrediting the Russian army and propaganda of Nazi symbols. The reason for bringing her to responsibility was anti-war posts on Odnoklassniki. On October 3, 2024, the Poltavsky District Court of the Omsk Region found Roman Tyurin guilty and sentenced him to 1 year of imprisonment in a general regime colony. As a result of partially combining the sentences under the verdict of the Poltava District Court of the Omsk Region dated May 27, 2024, the court imposed a final sentence of 6 years and 3 months of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony. The court also banned Tyurin from posting appeals and other materials on the Internet for 4.5 years. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force. In the Omsk region, a third criminal case was opened against 55-year-old local resident Roman Tyurin, previously convicted of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army. He was accused of public calls for activities aimed against state security and repeated demonstration of extremist symbols. The reason for the criminal prosecution, as well as the chosen measure of restraint, is unknown. 18 November 2024, the Poltava District Court of the Omsk Region found Roman Tyurin guilty and, by partially combining with the previous sentence, sentenced him to six and a half years in a general regime colony. The court also prohibited the man from administering websites on the Internet for one year. The verdict was not appealed and came into force. On February 17, 2025, Roman Tyurin died in IK-8 of the Omsk region. February 9, 2024, the 1st Eastern Military District Court sentenced Roman Tyurin to four years in a penal colony under the article on justifying terrorism on the Internet. It is unknown what exactly became the reason for this persecution.
