Case Description
In the occupied part of the Luhansk region, no later than September 2022, 19-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Roman Shavernev, was detained. He was accused of espionage. According to the Russian investigation, in September 2022, Shavernin voluntarily collected information about the locations of Russian military personnel in Lugansk and passed it to Ukrainian special services via messenger. During the investigation, the suspect in the case was placed in custody. 28 February 2025, the Supreme Court of the Lugansk People's Republic found Roman Shavernëv guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison to be served in a strict regime penal colony. Information about an appeal against the verdict is not available.
