Case Description
In Kolomna, Moscow region, around 9 p.m. on March 5, 2024, 28-year-old Muscovite Roman Nerobelov was detained. According to law enforcement officials, he threw a Molotov cocktail at the house of 66-year-old Valery Kashin—the chief designer of the "Machine-Building Design Bureau" (KBM), which produces mortars, anti-tank guns, MANPADS, tactical ballistic missiles, and active protection systems." The bottle did not reach its target. The man tried to hide, but he was detained by neighbors. The police arrived and took Roman to the police station. On the interrogation, the detained person said that since February unknown people had been calling him, introducing themselves as police officers and Central Bank employees, and saying that a loan for 1.4 million rubles had been issued in his name, and that the accounts for repayment had been arrested. To lift the arrest, the fraudsters demanded to set fire to the house where people allegedly selling weapons for Ukraine were located. A criminal case was opened against the Muscovite for attempted murder. The court sent him to a pre-trial detention center.
