The military court in the occupied Donetsk region did not try Ivanishina, instead sending the case materials to his place of residence in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. In September 2024, the garrison military court of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk sent the materials for jurisdiction to the capital. On April 11, 2025, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Garrison Military Court found Ruslan Ivanishen guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in a strict regime colony.
