Case Description
In Moscow, at the beginning of October 2023, a criminal case was opened for 'calls for terrorism and extremism' against 39-year-old local resident Rinata Sharipova. The reason for the criminal prosecution was two comments in Telegram in the chat 'Open Chat | No to War'. In one of them, the girl wrote that she supports peaceful protest, damage to police vans and barriers, and arson of military enlistment offices to disrupt conscription. However, she noted that she does not support arson of civilian infrastructure facilities and throwing Molotov cocktails at the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In another comment it was written: "Burn them all." "Law enforcement found in Sharapova's comments "calls to military enlistment offices, with the aim of disrupting the mobilization of citizens of the Russian Federation to protect national interests; justification of revolutionary actions to change the foundations of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation, in connection with the conduct of a special military operation; as well as criminal actions, up to the physical destruction and causing harm to the health of police officers. For the duration of the investigation, the woman was placed under house arrest. On April 25, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Rinat Sharipova guilty, the sentence is unknown. It was not appealed and entered into force.
