Case Description
On March 20, 2023, in Naberezhnye Chelny, Republic of Tatarstan, near the Sidorovka station, an unknown person set fire to railway equipment. As a result, the system tracking train movements and controlling signals for train movement was put out of service. The arsonists also damaged the power cable, as a result of which six relay cabinets were temporarily left without power. , Two days later, an unknown person set fire to the climate cabinet of the Tele2 base station." "Two days later, on March 24, three local residents were detained in Kazan on charges of arson: 19-year-old Bulat Ibragimov, two 16-year-old schoolchildren, Egor Kunitsyn and Reval Kurmanov, as well as a 14-year-old teenager whose name has not been disclosed. During the interrogation, the defendants reported that the motive was money, which Ibragimov allegedly promised the teenagers. Initially, it was reported that a criminal case for sabotage was opened against Bulat Ibragimov, and the investigation charged two teenagers with the article on intentional destruction of another's property. Ibragimov was sent to a pre-trial detention center, and minors were released under parental supervision. A 14-year-old teenager is a witness in the case. It later became known that the case of sabotage causing significant property damage or other grave consequences was only brought against teenagers. A criminal case was opened against Ibragimov for organizing sabotage and involving minors in a criminal group. It is unknown whether Kunitsyn and Kurmanev's preventive measure has been changed. On June 6, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tatarstan found the defendants guilty and sentenced Reval Kurmanov and Egor Kunin to 5 years in a juvenile colony, Bulat Ibragimov to 17 years in a colony with the first three years to be served in prison.
