Burduli Ratti (რატი ბურდული)

Georgia mercenary who took part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine sentenced. Evidence collected by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was deemed sufficient by the court to issue an in absentia sentence to Georgian citizen Rat Buruli. He was found guilty of committing a crime under part 3rd art. Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mercenary activity). The investigation and the court established that Burduli joined the International Legion of Ukraine as a mercenary in March 2022. He was provided with personal firearms, ammunition, uniforms, and special equipment. At the training bases of the International Legion located on the territory of Ukraine, Burduli underwent military training aimed at acquiring skills in handling weapons and knowledge in the field of strategy and tactics of warfare. At the same time, he was provided with food, as well as other necessary means for his livelihood. Subsequently, Burduli carried out the orders of the commanders of the International Legion and directly participated in hostilities on the side of Ukrainian security forces against military personnel of the RF Armed Forces, systematically receiving material remuneration for this. At the request of the investigation, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen in absentia against Burduli. By the court's sentence he was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment. He has been placed on an international wanted list. The court has issued an in absentia verdict in a criminal case against a foreign mercenary. The 2nd Western Military Court has issued an in absentia verdict against 30-year-old Georgian citizen Rati Burduli."
