Case Description
On September 16, 2024, in Kazan, a criminal case was opened against five local women—Albina Valiakhmetova, Rania Vaisova, Leisan Sadykova, Alsu Fayzrakhmanova, and Alsina Khayrullina.
According to investigators, since 2019, the women “have been carrying out targeted efforts to spread terrorist ideology within our country, based on the doctrine of establishing a so-called global caliphate. Using covert methods during their meetings, they recruited Russian residents into their ranks.” Security officials believe that Valiakhmetova led the organization, while Vaisova provided a venue for the meetings.
On September 17, FSB officers conducted searches at the suspects’ homes, seized literature and electronic devices, and detained the women themselves.
On September 18, the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan remanded the women into pretrial detention.
