Case Description
In Kirov, no later than October 2024, a criminal case was initiated against local resident Raisa Novoselova for the dissemination of information expressing clear disrespect and insult to society related to the defense of the Fatherland, committed using the Internet (on the rehabilitation of Nazism). According to the investigation, Novoselova allegedly published a comment on one of the social networks in which experts found signs of humiliation of the soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who died in the 'SVO' zone. The woman was placed under a written undertaking not to leave during the investigation. On January 15, 2025, the Kirov Regional Court found Raisa Novoselova guilty and sentenced her to 6 months of imprisonment suspended for 1 year with a probationary period and a ban on posting materials on the internet for 1 year. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
