Case Description

In September 2023, a search was conducted at the home of 57-year-old Shiyes activist Radik Adnobaev in Kargopol, Arkhangelsk Oblast. A criminal case was opened against him for repeated "discrediting the RF army." Adnobaev's criminal prosecution was prompted by seven posts on VKontakte, which, according to the investigation, he left from October 2022 to February 2023. Adnobaev was also accused of "intentional infliction of harm to health" in connection with a fight with pro-war activist Igor Gusakov. According to Adnobaev, Gusakov himself provoked a conflict in August 2023. When the eco-activist pushed the attacker away, the latter wrote a statement to the police. Adnobaev believes that his actions did not go beyond the limits of permissible self-defense. On September 28, the court chose a measure of restraint against him in the form of a ban on certain actions. Earlier, in June 2022, Adnobaeva was fined in a case of an administrative offense under the article on discrediting the army due to a post on VKontakte with a photo of a sign saying "NO TO WAR. On 2 September 2024, the Nyandoma District Court of the Arkhangelsk Region found Radik Adnobaev guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 140 thousand." rubles and 1.5 years of restriction of freedom. The court prohibited Adnobaev from changing his place of residence without permission and he must report to the criminal-executive inspection once a month. On October 23, 2024, the Arkhangelsk Regional Court left the verdict unchanged.
