Case Description
In the Tula region, no later than August 2023, 34-year-old Petr Zhukovsky from the village of Novogurovsky was detained. He was accused of public calls for extremist activities. According to the security forces' version, Zhukovsky, who worked as an assistant driver at a cement plant, published calls to set fire to military enlistment offices and administrative buildings in a Telegram chat. For the duration of the investigation, a preventive measure was taken against the defendant in the form of a written undertaking not to leave. On October 26, 2023, the Aleksin City Court of the Tula Region found Petr Zhukovsky guilty and sentenced him to 2 years in prison with a suspended sentence. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
