Case Description
No later than February 2023, Petr Nesterkov from Syktyvkar was detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center on charges of publicly justifying terrorism and calling for extremism on the Internet. The details of the charges are unknown. Earlier, in June 2022, Nesterkov sent a notification to the Election Commission of the Komi Republic about holding a referendum on ending the war, holding Putin and Mishustin accountable, and holding new presidential elections. The electoral commission rejected his application. Moreover, Nesterkov tried to organize a rally about holding a referendum, but only one person came to it. On February 7, 2023, Pyotr Nesterkov was included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring. 27 July 2023 Judge Sergei Brovko of the 2nd Western Military District Court ordered Nesterkov to be sent for compulsory treatment. On November 29, the Military Appellate Court upheld the decision.
