Case Description
44-year-old local resident Pavel Zubov was detained in Irkutsk no later than August 2025. He was accused of public calls for extremism and terrorism. According to the investigation, from April 2023 to June 2024, the man systematically posted comments on a video hosting platform and in a Telegram news group calling for violent actions against Russian military personnel and representatives of various nationalities." 2. In one of his comments, he called the 'Freedom of Russia' legion and the 'Russian Volunteer Corps' the best opposition. The case against Zubov was initiated due to denunciations from unknown people - a man and a woman. According to them, they read his comments and "were offended. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On June 24, 2025, the 2nd Eastern District Military Court found Pavel Zubov guilty and sentenced him to six years in a general regime penal colony, as well as deprived him of the right to engage in public activities in publicly available information and telecommunications networks for four years and six months. On October 14, 2025, the Appellate Military Court reduced the prison sentence by 1 month.
