Case Description
In Kakhovka, in the occupied Kherson region, on 26 July 2023, around 9 a.m., nine Russian soldiers, in front of his sick father, abducted 42-year-old paintball coach Pavel Zozulyuk from his home and took him away in an unknown direction. Later it became known that he was accused of participating in the "extremist" organization "Right Sector" in 2014-2016. According to law enforcement, Pavel allegedly attempted to recruit two residents of Tavrichesky into the ranks of the 'Right Sector' in October 2022. Relatives of Pavel said that "he was brought home under escort, all blue from beatings, with fractures. They took some confessions from him on pieces of paper." Before that, in the winter of 2022, Pavel Zozulyuk was also illegally deprived of his freedom. No later than 3 July 2024 (the exact date is unknown), the Novokakhovka District Court of the Kherson Region found Pavel Zozolyuk guilty and sentenced him to 2 years in a general regime colony. The sentence entered into force. After serving his sentence in January 2025, Zozulyuka was placed in a Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Nationals. In May 2025, he was able to leave Russia as a result of a prisoner exchange.
