Case Description
In Moscow, on October 17, 2022, Pavel Pishchulin, a 39-year-old resident of the Penza region, was detained. He was accused of confidential cooperation with a foreign state. This is the first publicly known case of a case being initiated under the relevant Article 275.1, which was added to the Criminal Code in the summer of that year. According to the investigation, in 2022, Pishchulin, during correspondence in messengers with representatives of Ukrainian security services, 'expressed a desire to assist them in activities against the Russian Federation.'", On October 18, 2023, the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow sent Pishchulin to a remand prison." 3. On July 18, 2024, the Penza Regional Court found Pavel Pishchulin guilty and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment, with a 1-year restriction of freedom, to be served in a general regime colony. The court also stripped Pishulin of his military rank - "lieutenant in the reserve. On December 12, 2024, the Fourth Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction upheld the verdict without change.
