Case Description
In Tula in January 2025, a 44-year-old local resident, Pavel Ivanyuk, was detained. During the search, a mobile phone was confiscated from the man. A criminal case was opened against the Tula resident for participating in the activities of an extremist organization. According to law enforcement officials, the defendant in the case has been an open representative of the LGBT community since the age of 15, repeatedly called on other supporters of the LGBT movement on his social media page to "unite and fight for their rights, actively sought acquaintances for the night, and organized orgies at his home. Also, Ivanyuk was charged under the article on the circulation of pornography - the man allegedly "distributed a large number of materials with gay pornography. It is unknown whether a preventive measure has been chosen. September 26, 2025, the Zarechensky District Court of Tula found Pavel guilty and sentenced him to 2 years of probation. December 22, 2025, the Tula Regional Court considered an appeal against the prosecutor's submission and changed the sentence without altering the qualification, replacing the suspended sentence with 2 years of imprisonment. On December 22, 2025, the Tula Regional Court already toughened the sentence, sentencing Ivanyuk to 2 years of imprisonment in a penal colony-settlement.
